Connect with Mother Earth and Feel Better

What I learned today…to really connect with earth.  Why we should walk barefoot…not on cement or carpet or flooring but really on the ground.  Be it grass, dirt or sand.  Stand, walk, run or lay down and get those negative ions from Mother Earth.

I am sharing this information that I received in an email from Darin Olien and loved it so much I want you to see it word for word…

“Walk barefoot today in the grass, on a beach, in a park, and somewhere clean and inviting that you can connect to the earth. Walking barefoot provides your body with multiple benefits.




Walking barefoot stretches muscles and strengths your body. It pays to take your shoes off every chance you get.


Walking barefoot clears your mind. You have to pay attention to where you step when walking barefoot, and this creates a mindfulness that keeps you in the moment. Add this to your stress relief arsenal.


Hear me out on this one. When you walk barefoot, you “soak up” the earth’s negative charge. It’s something called “grounding.” Our bodies are made up of about 60 percent water, which is great for conducting electricity. The earth has a negative ionic charge and when you go barefoot your body can connect to that charge.

According to Journal of Environmental and Public Health, “mounting evidence suggests that the Earth’s negative potential can create a stable internal bioelectrical environment for the normal functioning of all body systems (January 2012).” 

Research suggests negative ions fight inflammation with an antioxidant effect, lower stress, and actually help synchronize your internal clocks, hormonal cycles and physiological rhythms. Floors, shoes, rugs, yoga mats…we have many fatal conveniences (modern conveniences that seem to make life easier but end up negatively impacting our long-term health) that prevent our bodies from soaking up the negative ions from the earth.”  -Darin Olien, Superlife

Here is what he recommends….

“Walk on grass or dirt or sand — or take a break and sit and lie on the ground (this has the same effects) and feel the planet’s vibration, which is beneficial to your health. Tip: You’ll absorb more negative ions through your feet when you walk by the water. Find a lake, river, or beach near you for an extra bonus!

Sometimes the simplest things (such as walking barefoot) can have a deep impact on your health.”

So let’s all take our shoes off and walk on bare ground!
