This is why so many people can’t get by on 1200-1400 calories in one day…because of eating the wrong calories. One meal can equal all the calories your body needs in a day. Then, you get hungry because that junk food burns off and your body needs fuel.
Not only is highly processed, packaged foods high in calories, they are empty calories. They can’t fuel your body with what it needs to regenerate. Everything in your body regenerates…all cells turnover in your body. You literally are what you eat! If you eat junk food, that is what your body has to pull nutritents from.
Many people try and have tried (myself included) to our exercise food. Well, you can’t. Sure you burn some calories but you are fighting a losing battle. The secret is…there is no secret and I am pretty sure most people know that you are better off eating mostly vegetables, fruits, seeds/nuts, healthy carbs, healthy fats and healthy oils. But America has a low grade addiction to junk food/sugar, including soda. Lucky for us, I strongly believer we are all opening our eyes…waking up and finally realizing that the Hungry Man dinners are really not that awesome. Sure they were great back the in day when moms started to work and dinners has to be done in a hurry but they are far from healthy. So…that is not really helping.
Think of it this way…you eat some Doritos. Sure they smell great (you can thank the junk food industry for the bright colors and strong smells) and probably tasted pretty yummy but….how does it help your body regenerate? Give your proper fuel? Nourish what you need from the inside out? It doesn’t. Eating the Doritos probably satisfied a hungry and/or craving but you will be hungry again, sooner rather than later because those were empty carbs. Now you have to eat more calories to get rid of hunger. Also, picture your body trying to grab nutrients from that junk food to regenerate your lungs, your liver, brain cells. It’s a struggle at best.
Bottom line, you have to have a mind shift and work on eating whole foods that are not processed or very minimally processed. Mostly vegetables, some fruits, lean proteins, healthy carbs, healthy fats and healthy oils. Limit sugar to very little and make them natural. Cut out soda. I know…this is a hard one but you can do it. You just have to try and keep trying. Give yourself a chance to see what it feels like. Eat clean for 5 days, 7 days, 21 Days…something is better than nothing. The longer you can do it, the better you will start to feel. Drink lots of water, get plenty of rest and yes, exercise at least 30 minutes most days.
If you make this a lifestyle, you will start to lose weight and better yet, feel great. Most people do not realize how good they are supposed to feel…rather than feeling tired, hungry, irritated, out of shape, etc. If you don’t know how to do this or need support, motivation, accountability, holler.
